Lipitor

LIPITOR and other STATIN DRUGS
Sales of $2.5 billion last year & $10 billion expected this year to Pfizer

Lipitor is one of the most profitable drugs the pharmaceutical industry has ever come up with, surpassing Pfizer’s other wonder drug, Viagra. Other statin drugs, such as Bayer’s Baycol (removed from the market because of too many deaths) are not only lowering cholesterol, they are ruining perfectly good lives with their side effects that lead to slow degradation and permanent physical disability. Did you know that drug companies sponsor the studies that show benefits from their drugs? Is it possible that there just might be some ‘collusion’ here, some untruths, possibly some ‘bias’. It’s easy to follow the $ trail.

Serious ‘side-effects’ of STATIN drugs: (www.rxlist.com/rxboard/lipitor)

liver failure
kidney failure
Rhabdomyuolysis
constipation
(bursting of muscle cells)
insomnia
tinnitus
hypertension

Yes, hypertension is a possible side-effect of Lipitor. Yet studies say that doctors should prescribe Lipitor to patients with hypertension even if their cholesterol is normal. STATINS work by inhibiting a liver enzyme that makes cholesterol. This enzyme is used in the production of coenzyme Q10. It provides energy to the heart, brain and kidneys. Taking STATIN drugs lowers CoQ10 levels- definitely not a good thing!

Read the above side-effect: “bursting of muscle cells”. This is very serious business. It sounds like some-thing that only a brain-washed, co-dependent victim would want to do to their body.

Lipitor is the top selling drug on today’s market. No wonder that Pfizer’s own studies say doctors should prescribe more. It’s difficult for me to understand the medical profession’s complacency in allowing these pharmaceutical funded studies to dominate medical journals.

I recently came across this interesting information:

‘When a person’s cholesterol falls below 170,
the body cannot maintain healthy myelin sheath around nerve cells.
Cholesterol provides protection for the brain and spine.’

I understand that the guidelines for cholesterol levels are going to be lowered even further. I guess Lipitor sales are down and need a boost!!! Shame on me! (But, I just couldn’t help it.)
