FOSAMAX (bisphosphonate)
Fosamax belongs to the drug class – bisphosphonates. Aredia and Zometa injections are the two intravenous versions used in chemotherapy. Merck’s Fosamax and Procter & Gamble’s Actonel are oral versions of the drugs. Bisphosphonate in tablet form is marketed to treat osteoporosis in post-menopausal women. Stronger forms are used to ’treat’ cancers that have metastasized to the bone. Fosamax is Merck’s 2nd best-selling drug with revenues of more than $3.2 billion in 2005. (April 12 – The Associated Press)
Researchers say that when taken for more than 10 years, Fosamax makes bones more brittle and more susceptible to fracture. Even if you stop taking the drug – it stays in the body for up to 10 years.
In a 2004 letter published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, researcher Susan Ott, MD, of the University of Washington wrote: “Many people believe that these drugs are ‘bone builders,’ but the evidence shows they are actually bone hardeners. We’re not quite sure what we’re dealing with over the long haul. The side effects of this DRUG should make ordinary, healthy women think twice.” (Evelyn Pringle – www.onlinejournal.com)

FDA’s Office of Drug Safety states – Osteonecrosis or ‘dead jaw’ is linked to patients using bisphosphonates – Fosamax. (www.personal-injury.com/practice_areas/Fosamax.asp)
Yet another case of a drug causing the exact thing that it was taken for – and more!
PERHAPS IT MIGHT JUST BE TIME FOR YOU TO WAKE UP!
What do you think?
Do you think?
Do you think about the DRUGS that you’re ‘addicted’ to?
Or do you let your ‘doctor’…do your thinking for you?
