Dr. Trowbridge (The Yeast Syndrome) tells us that Candida albicans is a yeast growth present in all of us, normally controlled by our immune defenses. But, when certain changes take place in our digestive system (over a long period of time- 10 or 20 years), good bacteria are decreased and as a result, the immune response becomes depressed. The yeast begins to grow, especially in the colon, releasing
powerful toxins that are absorbed into the bloodstream, causing such widely varying symptoms such as severe menstrual cramps, lethargy, diarrhea, bladder infections, asthma, migraine headaches, depression, skin eruptions, vaginitis, oral thrush, diaper rash, and a myriad of other conditions.
Candidiasis affects all body parts, organs, tissues and cells- in diseases from AIDS to cancer and
including; multiple sclerosis, depression, schizophrenia, arthritis. vaginitis, cystitis, menstrual disorders, de-creased libido, infertility, headaches, arthritis, indigestion, intestinal gas, nausea, bloating, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, dizziness, fatigue, lethargy, white-coated tongue, brittle nails, acne, hives and other skin eruptions, blurred vision, rectal itching, inadequate nutrient assimilation, all allergic reactions, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic grumpiness, autism, brain dysfunction, anxiety, depression and all other ‘emotional’ illnesses, as well as asthma and all other respiratory disorders
Some aspects that foster yeast over-growth are; oral contraceptives, hormone therapy, DES, anti-
inflammatory cortisone medications (Prednisone), antibiotics, and a diet high in mold content food, such as bread, beer, refined sugar; candy, cookies, pastries, chips, and all other ‘junk food’.
Candida albicans and AUTO IMMUNE DISEASES-. In the early 1980’s Dr. Orian Truss discovered that the so-called ‘Auto Immune Diseases’ are caused by a paralysis of the immune response via tolerance to the body’s ‘antigen overload’. Here’s a brief explanation of his findings:
Yeast overgrowth produces toxins (antigens), which elicit a response from our lymphocytes (T and B immune cells). Normally when toxins are recognized by the T and B cell, the immune system produces antibodies to get rid of them. However, when there is a heavy overload of these yeast toxins (as many as 79 can be produced by yeast at any given time), they create disguising antigens, which mask its hostility. The yeast itself does not bring antibody responses directly from the immune system. Perhaps this is because under normal, healthy conditions yeast exists in the gut in bio symbiosis (a beneficial relationship) with all the other organisms. But when the yeast grows out of control, the heavy load of toxins creates a condition known as candidiasis antigen (toxin) load or ‘polysystemic chronic candidiasis’, in which this load is released into the bloodstream where it can adversely effect virtually every cell, tissue and organ in the human body. It elicits responses ranging from mild mood changes and depression to Candida septicemia(blood poisoning) and eventual death.
Yeast toxins circulate through out the body and the organisms themselves can grow in, or on many tissues as well. Candida is a saprophyte turned pathogenic by changes in the internal ecology (balance) of the body. Candida symptoms fall into three areas:
1. Problems in the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts.
2. Allergic reactions anywhere in or on the body.
3. Emotional and mental difficulties ranging from depression to Schizophrenia.
Candida albicans can also be a cause of cravings for sweets and carbohydrates, and sugar intoler–ance. Yeast organisms crave sugar, their natural diet. When deprived of sugar, or carbohydrates in the diet, the yeast begins to die, releasing toxic substances, which cause a ‘die-off’ reaction in the person. Eating sweets, or starches feels good, because it makes these symptoms go away.
Detoxing from yeast requires changing one’s eating habits- drastically! Don’t expect results over night. It could take up to a year or more. (“Never, Never, Never give up.” –Winston Churchill)
The Yeast Syndrome, by Dr. Trowbridge (from where this information was gleaned) was written in 1986. Dr. Trowbridge states that, “Although diagnosis is reasonably straightforward- a highly effective therapy does exist. Until now, organized medicine has largely ignored such diagnosis and treatment.”
That was 18 years ago, and still today, most medical doctors still are not aware of the hideous and devastating diseases and conditions that Candida can cause, let alone how to treat it!
